DIY: Custom Whimsy Chandelier for $14.50

I love being creative. After moving this past summer, I need to start all over with new projects and new looks for our home. Paying full price for custom made items is not in my budget. So making my own projects at a fraction of the cost is what I call Frugal and Fancy!

I found some incredible inspiration on Pinterest (you can follow me there, too). Your Retail Helper One project I fell in love with was a Whimsical Chandelier. I had to try it for our daughter's room.

I found the lamp shade frame for $14.50 at vintage shop called Thistle in the Kansas City Crossroads Art District. I adore the flower design on the bottom! All of the rest of the materials were scraps of extra craft materials (ribbon, fabric, scrapbook supplies, hot glue gun, Cricut machine, etc...).

First, I wrapped the frame in scraps of fabric. I tore the fabric into strips about 1-2 inches wide. I wrapped each strip tightly and then tied them off.

Next, my daughter and I attached all the pieces with ribbon. It was so easy! It's hanging above her bed like a chandelier. She was so excited for this new focal point in her room.

You could take this idea in many different directions using color themes or concepts (like white birds in cardstock). And, if you ever get tired of this design, it would be easy to take it all off and try something new. Give it a try and send me your pictures. I'd love to see your ideas!
