Retail Bootcamp is a series that will teach you step-by-step basics to saving money on Retail for yourself, home, gifts, holidays, etc...
Wedding season is here! But, wait, have you budgeted for those additional shower and wedding gifts? Here are my strategies for saving money on Wedding Gifts.
1) Use a
Gift Reserve. Be a shopping opportunist. Plan ahead and buy items when they are at rock bottom. Then you only have to shop from your
Gift Reserve. You'll save more money than you can imagine.
2) Make a
Gift Basket. Group smaller items together to make one large gift. You can pull these items from your
Gift Reserve. Freebies can also be added. Voila! A great gift for little money.
3) Give a Daily Deal certificate. There are so many Daily Deal opportunities on things like Restaurants, Entertainment, Spas, Shopping, etc... You buy those items for around 50% of the cost. Why not give one as a gift?
4) If you're really strapped for cash, think outside the box. Offer a "Personalized Coupon" for moving, lawn mowing, handyman or pet sitting services.
5) Shop After Season Sales to stock up on wrapping paper, tissue and cards at major discounts.
6) Pool your money. Go in on a gift with a friend. If you pool your money, you can buy one larger gift.
CHALLENGE
The big question, is do you have to buy something off a Gift Registry? If you are on a tight budget, you shouldn't feel obligated to buy a gift off a Registry. As long as your gift is thoughtful and relevant, it shouldn't matter how much you pay for a gift.
