DIY Projects to Save Money on Retail: Re-purposed Jeans

Do-It-Yourself is a great option for saving money on apparel, gifts, decorating and remodeling. Today's DIY Project is Re-purposed Jeans. Your Retail Helper

One of our sons is notorious for wearing out the knee in his jeans. Instead of buying him new jean shorts for Spring/Summer, I decided to cut off his jeans and hem them myself. It saved me quite a bit of money. Even if I had to pay a seamstress to do this for me, it would still be less than buying several pair of shorts.

Cut the jeans right above the tear. Then roll a hem, pinning it to hold it in place. Next, sew the hem. Super easy! Remember to use a heavy cotton thread and a needle intended for heavy/denim material.
