Retail Bootcamp: Save Money on Halloween Costumes Tip #4 Make Your Own

Retail Bootcamp is a series that will teach you step-by-step basics to saving money on Retail for yourself, home, gifts, holidays, etc...

This month we're highlighting our favorite frugal Halloween Costume strategies. Make sure to check out all our top Halloween Deals, Coupons and Sales!

Tip #4
Make Your Own

We always had some much fun being creative making our own costumes when we were kids. Use coupons and sales to buy all your supplies and accessories. Print several copies of the coupon and pay with separate transactions to save the most money.

Tip #3 - Sales & Coupons - Watch for coupons at some of your favorite stores and stack them with sales to save even more money. Check out our Retail Round Up for a list of printable in-store coupons. Also watch for all the Hot Online Halloween Deals we post on a regular basis.

Tip #2 - Consignment Sales & Garage Sales - This is my favorite tip. I buy high quality costumes for a fraction of the cost. Our kids use them as dress up clothes all year long! Visit Consignment Mommies to find a sale near you.

Tip #1 - Costume Exchange - Expand your network of possibilities. Ask friends and family if they'd be willing to trade and/or borrow costumes. Send an email, post on Facebook, put a note in your Mom's Club Newsletter, etc... Or make a night of it and have a party where everyone brings their old Halloween Costumes. (Make sure you write your name in your costume to ensure it returns.)

CHALLENGE
Challenge your older kids to see who can save the most money on their costume this year. Start them off with frugal cost saving skills that will last a lifetime!
