Retail Bootcamp: Save Money When Moving - Hire a Realtor
Retail Bootcamp is a series that will teach you step-by-step basics to saving money on Retail for yourself, home, gifts, holidays, etc...
It's been almost 2 years since we moved last Summer. In the midst of all the packing and planning I learned you don't have to break the bank when you're moving. Today we're starting our series to give you some practical and easy ways to Save Money When Moving.
Tip #1 - Hire a reputable Realtor
I know this might not sound like a money saving tip, but trust me, this is one of the most important decisions when preparing to move. Trying to navigate all the legalities, guidelines, paperwork and financial details will be enough to make your head spin. Not to mention having to coordinate all the potential contractors and deadlines.
A good Realtor is worth their weight in gold (ie commission). You don't want a "good" realtor. You need an "Extraordinary" realtor. You need their expertise to be your advocate and help you from getting in over your head and thus spending more than you should have in the first place.
Where do you start your search? Ask your friends for a referral. Or you can look for an Endorsed Agent on Dave Ramsey's website. (By the way, we're huge Dave Ramsey fans.) Make sure the agent is licensed and is working only for you as a broker.
